About Padel at Cotswolds Hotel & Spa
Padel at Cotswolds Hotel & Spa is the first dedicated padel venue in Chipping Norton. The two courts sit in the grounds of the four-star Cotswolds Hotel & Spa at London Road, Southcombe, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire OX7 5QH.
The site is a few minutes off the A44, around 20 minutes from the A40 at Oxford, and easy to reach from Banbury, Burford, Witney and Stow-on-the-Wold. Free parking sits right next to the courts and reception.
The padel courts launched in July 2025 alongside the resort’s existing 18 hole golf course, gym and spa. They opened padel up to hotel guests, members and walk-in players from across north Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds. The setting is rural, quiet and family-friendly, with the surrounding countryside, market town shops and golf clubhouse all on the doorstep.
The padel courts
The venue has two outdoor padel courts, both floodlit for evening play through the darker months. They are standard double courts built to international specification, with glass back walls and metal mesh sides for the doubles game most players know from Playtomic.
Rackets and balls are available to hire from the hotel reception, so first-time players can turn up empty-handed and still get on court. The two-court layout keeps things social, with players often rotating between matches and watching from the side. Lighting columns mean evening matches feel as comfortable as midday sessions.
Booking padel and access
Courts run from 09:00 to 21:00 seven days a week. Booking is handled through Playtomic - you can book a court on Playtomic in 60 or 90 minute slots, with live availability shown at the payment step.
Headline rates start at around £18 per hour per court off-peak, with peak hourly pricing typically £22 and up. Split across four players, that works out at roughly £4.50 to £5.50 per person for a 60 minute game. Live rates show on Playtomic.
Walk-ins are welcome subject to availability, but pre-booking is strongly recommended at evenings and weekends. The standard Playtomic cancellation window applies. The hotel reception handles questions on 01608 642383 or enquiries@cotswoldsclub.co.uk, with changing rooms and the bar a short walk away.
Programme and social padel
As a newer venue the social calendar is still being built out. The team uses Playtomic and the hotel’s social channels to push open matches, mix-ins and introductory sessions, particularly around weekends and school holidays.
The Stay & Play padel package bundles an overnight room, dinner, breakfast and an hour of padel court hire per day from £79 per person, with discounts for two and three night stays. It is popular with weekend groups travelling into the Cotswolds. Extra court time and equipment can be added at the standard tariff.
Beyond the courts, the resort layers in a full hotel experience. An 18 hole golf course, indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room and spa treatments are all on the same site. The bar and restaurant make it practical for groups who want to play and then eat together without moving on.
Best for padel in Chipping Norton
This is a strong fit for Cotswolds locals who want a nearby outdoor club without driving into Oxford, for hotel guests on a weekend break, and for groups combining padel with golf, dinner or a spa session. It also works well for beginners trying padel for the first time.
Players who need indoor courts in winter rain, dedicated coaching programmes or a deep weekly league schedule may prefer larger urban clubs in Oxford, Banbury or Cheltenham.
For everyone else, two floodlit courts in a quiet rural setting, with hire kit at reception and a four-star hotel resort wrapped around them, make this one of the easiest and most enjoyable places in north Oxfordshire to pick up the game of padel.

£90 for a sleepless night. If you are a light sleeper like myself, definitely don't bother. I requested a quiet room when booking and I think the staff sarcastically gave me the noisiest room. Room allocated was right next to the stairs and another entrance to the building. I heard every car coming in and out of the car park. The usual low life people not giving a care in the world that it's 3am and just chatting away loudly when being dropped off by taxi. People dragging their bags up and down the stairs. I did understand before booking there were no spa facilities like a sauna or steam room but I wasn't too bothered about that although it would have been nice. 2 stars from me and that's mainly because the room was clean and spacious with a modern feel to it. Overall I found the Cotswolds wasn't an exciting place to visit and I won't ever bother returning here.
My daughter and I had a wonderful holistic full body massage in the spa, and my daughter also had a facial. Our therapist was Inoka and she was wonderful. We only used the spa facilities and didn’t stay at the hotel.
Nice rooms, helpful staff. The location is a bit inconvenient because it's outside of town, but everything was easily accessible by car.
Nice room. Lovely food. Lots to do in the area.
