The short version: Padeli is a global padel directory run by Mark Lamb as a UK sole trader. We collect the minimum data needed to run the site, deliver bookings and listings, and improve your experience. We never sell your data. Who we are
Padeli (padeli.com) is operated by Mark Lamb, a UK-based sole trader trading as Padeli. For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Mark Lamb is the data controller for any personal data processed through this website.
You can reach us at hello@padeli.com for any privacy or data protection question.
What data we collect
We only collect data we actually need. The categories below cover everything padeli.com handles.
Account and listing data
If you create an account or claim a club listing, we store your name, email address, profile photo if provided, and any business or venue details you submit. Club owners on a paid plan also have billing details processed (see “Payments” below).
Contact form and email submissions
When you message us, leave a comment, or submit an enquiry through the site, we store the content of your message along with your email address so we can reply.
Site usage data
We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity (or Hotjar) to understand how readers use the site - which pages get read, where people drop off, what searches lead them in. Where consent is required under PECR, these tools only run after you accept cookies.
Technical data
Our hosting and Cloudflare infrastructure log standard server data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested. This is used to keep the site secure, block bots, and diagnose problems.
How we use your data
We use the data we collect to:
- Run accounts, club listings, and any paid subscription you have with us
- Reply to your enquiries and customer support requests
- Send service emails (account changes, billing receipts, listing approvals)
- Send marketing emails only if you have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- Improve the site, fix bugs, and prioritise the content readers actually want
- Detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
- Meet our legal obligations
Our legal bases under UK GDPR are: contract (running your account or subscription), consent (cookies, marketing email), legitimate interest (security, analytics, site improvement), and legal obligation (tax, accounting, regulatory).
Cookies and tracking
Padeli uses three categories of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential - login sessions, security checks, and basic site function. These run without consent because the site cannot work without them.
- Analytics - Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, plus a heatmap tool (Microsoft Clarity or Hotjar). These run only with your consent and help us understand how the site is used.
- Performance and security - Cloudflare uses cookies to identify trusted traffic and block attacks. Most are essential.
You can change your cookie choices at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies may break parts of the site.
Payments
Paid club owner subscriptions are processed by Stripe. When you pay, your card details are sent directly to Stripe’s secure servers - we never see or store the full card number. We only retain the transaction reference, the amount, the currency, and the billing email so we can issue receipts and run your subscription.
Stripe is a PCI-DSS Level 1 service provider and acts as an independent data controller for the card data it handles. Read Stripe’s privacy notice at stripe.com/privacy.
Who we share your data with
We share data only with the service providers we need to run the site. The current list is:
- Cloudways - website hosting (UK and EU servers)
- Cloudflare - CDN, DDoS protection, bot management
- Stripe - payment processing for paid subscriptions
- Google - Analytics 4 and Tag Manager (consent-gated)
- Microsoft Clarity or Hotjar - session analytics and heatmaps (consent-gated)
- Email provider - transactional and marketing email delivery
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to anyone. We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, but we will tell you about it unless legally prevented from doing so.
International transfers
Some of our service providers (notably Stripe and Google) are based outside the UK. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, transfers are protected by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision recognised by the UK government.
How long we keep your data
We keep account and listing data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your personal data within 90 days, except where we are legally required to keep it (for example, billing records must be retained for 6 years under UK tax rules).
Comments and contact form messages are kept indefinitely unless you ask us to remove them. Analytics data is retained for 14 months in Google Analytics 4 and 12 months in our heatmap tool.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- Be informed about what we do with your data (this policy)
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct anything that is inaccurate
- Have your data deleted (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Receive a portable copy of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time where consent is the legal basis
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you think we have got something wrong
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@padeli.com. We will respond within one calendar month.
The ICO’s contact details are at ico.org.uk.
Children
Padeli is not aimed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices, tools, or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page tells you when the latest version went live. For material changes, we will post a notice on the site or email registered users.
