About Broughton Padel
Broughton Padel is the padel arm of Broughton and District Club, a multi-sport venue founded in 1890 just north of Preston near M6 and M55 Junction 32. Padel courts opened to public play on 17 October 2024, and Broughton was named Tennis Lancashire Club of the Year in 2025 for both Padel and Tennis.
The club runs across racket sports, bowls, badminton and bridge, with around 900 members across all sections. The padel offer is built around accessibility: pay-as-you-go court hire from £20 per hour, free racket and ball hire on a trust basis, and beginner-friendly taster sessions running regularly.
The courts
Two outdoor padel courts with fully integrated automatic LED floodlighting (four stanchions per court), set up for play from 08:00 to 22:00 daily. The synthetic padel surface is built to LTA spec, and the floodlighting kicks in automatically once daylight drops.
The two-court size keeps the booking pattern straightforward and the surrounding club grounds give the venue a more open feel than industrial-unit indoor builds.
Booking and access
Court hire is via the LTA ClubSpark platform or the LTA Booker App, with daily booking opening at 08:00. Pay-as-you-go rates run £20 to £24 per hour depending on slot. Members get discounted court rates, 14-day forward booking priority and entry to the Broughton Padel Box League, while non-members pay standard rates with daily booking.
Free racket and ball hire applies to all players. The venue is at 26 Whittingham Lane, Broughton, Preston PR3 5DA, with on-site parking and access to the wider club facilities including bar, changing rooms and social spaces.
Programme and social
Coaching is delivered by Wayne Scott Tennis and Padel, headed by LTA Level 3 Accredited Plus coach Wayne Scott (head coach at Broughton since 2020) and supported by assistant coach Lisa. The Padel Coaching Programme focuses on beginner and improver players, with all coaches holding current DBS and First Aid certification.
Over 20 Padel Basics Taster Sessions have run since the courts opened, and regular social mix-ins are available to both members and non-members at differential pricing. The Open Day in October 2024 drew over 200 attendees including the Lancashire Over 50s Padel Squad, which gives a sense of the club’s all-ages reach.
Best for
Beginner and improver players in north Preston who want a heritage club setting with structured LTA coaching and budget pay-as-you-go pricing. The taster sessions and free racket hire make it a strong first port of call for newcomers. Less suited to players wanting indoor play through winter weather, since both courts are outdoor.
