Powerhouse Padel Coleraine

Powerhouse Padel Coleraine is the Causeway Coast’s first dedicated padel facility, set in the converted former JJB Sports warehouse at 52 Hanover Place, Coleraine, BT52 1EB. The venue sits a short walk from Coleraine town centre.

It is close to the A2 and A26 routes that connect Belfast, Ballymena and Portrush, putting it within a comfortable drive of most of County Londonderry and the wider Causeway Coast and Glens area.

Opened in October 2025 by co-founders Elliott McKew and Simon Moutray, the club was backed by a £50,000 investment from the Investment Fund for Northern Ireland. The team set out to fill a clear gap, with no other padel courts within roughly 50 miles of the town. Full venue information sits on the Powerhouse Padel website.

The padel courts

The club operates five indoor panoramic courts inside the warehouse-style building, all with a permanent roof and consistent indoor LED lighting for year-round play. The layout includes a designated Centre Court, three further doubles courts (Court 1, Court 2 and Court 3), and Northern Ireland’s first dedicated singles court for one-on-one matches.

All courts use the brand’s signature purple synthetic-turf surface and feature panoramic tempered-glass walls, which give clear sightlines for spectators and a more modern look than older mesh-and-glass designs. The Centre Court is also fitted with PushIt replay technology, so players can review key points on screen during or after a match.

Booking and access for padel at Powerhouse Padel Coleraine

Court hire is pay-and-play through Playtomic, with no membership required. Live rates show at the booking step, with hourly prices typically from around £16 to £20 per court depending on time of day, which works out at roughly £4 to £5 per player for a standard doubles match.

Players can book a court on Playtomic in 60 or 90 minute slots, up to 14 days in advance. The club also runs a Playtomic wallet offer where adding £100 of credit unlocks £125 of off-peak playing value, valid Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 15:00.

The venue opens 08:00 to 23:00 Monday to Saturday and 12:00 to 23:00 on Sunday. Free on-site parking, equipment hire and step-free access are all available, plus a cafe area, snack bar and free WiFi for players between sessions. Players can call +44 7511 766423 or message the venue’s WhatsApp group for help with bookings.

Programme and social padel

Powerhouse Padel Coleraine runs a steady programme of social nights, mix-in sessions and tournaments aimed at building a local padel community from scratch. Kids’ camps run during Northern Ireland school holidays, and the founders have signalled plans to partner with local schools and businesses to widen access to the sport.

Coaching sessions are offered for beginners and improvers, with on-court staff happy to help newcomers with the basics or jump in for a few rallies. A fully stocked pro shop carries rackets, balls and accessories, with racket hire at the desk. See the coaching tab for tiers and pricing.

Best for padel in Coleraine

This is the natural home base for padel players across the Causeway Coast, Derry / Londonderry, Ballymena and the north Antrim coast, especially those who want reliable indoor conditions through Atlantic weather. The mix of four doubles courts and a singles court also makes it a strong fit for one-on-one practice.

It is less of a fit for players looking for a large multi-sport gym, spa or pool complex - Powerhouse Padel Coleraine is a focused padel-only venue rather than a wider leisure club. For dedicated padel time on modern panoramic courts with easy Playtomic booking, it is currently the standout option in the area.
