Powerleague Portobello (Edinburgh)

Powerleague Portobello (Edinburgh) sits at 10 Westbank Street in Portobello, three covered panoramic padel courts converted from the existing Powerleague football centre in a unique coastal location minutes from Portobello Beach.

The build was Portobello’s first padel offer, part of Powerleague’s £2.2 million Scottish padel rollout that has installed 11 covered courts across Edinburgh, Paisley and Glasgow. Sister Powerleague padel sites include the Edinburgh Sighthill location and Powerleague Paisley.

The courts

Three covered panoramic padel courts at the Westbank Street site. Indoor-style LED lighting through evening play. Roofed for full weather protection year-round despite the coastal Portobello location. The covered canopy build keeps the venue running through Edinburgh’s wet winters and windy coastal weather.

Booking and access

Court hire bookable through Playtomic on a pay-and-play basis from £7 per person on shared 60- or 90-minute sessions. Westbank Street location in coastal Portobello, putting the venue inside reach of central Edinburgh, Leith, Musselburgh and the wider East Lothian commuter belt with on-site parking. Closest stations: Brunstane (rail) and Newcraighall (rail). Contact portobello@powerleague.com or call 0131 669 2266.

Programme and social

The coastal Portobello setting puts the courts minutes from Portobello Beach, with a viewing area and bar inside the football-centre clubhouse alongside the padel courts. Daily mix-ins, beginner socials and structured group lessons run through the in-house Powerleague Padel coaching programme. The pay-and-play model supports drop-in casual play, league running and tournament hosting. Group bookings handled directly through the venue.

Best for

Edinburgh, Leith, Musselburgh and the wider East Lothian catchment players who want covered padel at a coastal Portobello setting minutes from the beach, casual pay-and-play regulars combining padel with the football-centre clubhouse, and Powerleague Padel network members combining sessions across Scotland and the wider UK. Less suited to outdoor-first players or those wanting flagship-spec dedicated padel-only floors.

Coaching at Powerleague Portobello runs through the in-house Powerleague Padel coaching team, with structured group lessons, beginner intros and introductory sessions across all skill levels. Powerleague Padel runs leagues and tournaments through the calendar, with Portobello acting as one of the network's three Edinburgh anchors alongside Sighthill.
