About Surge Padel Harrogate

Surge Padel Harrogate is a dedicated indoor padel centre at Fourth Avenue, Hornbeam Park, Harrogate HG2 8QT. The site occupies a purpose-converted unit shared with the Coach gym on the southern edge of the town.

It sits a short walk from Hornbeam Park railway station and roughly two miles from Harrogate town centre. Quick access from the A661 and the A1(M) at Wetherby makes it easy for players travelling in from Leeds, York or the wider North Yorkshire area.

The centre was developed as part of a 1.5 million pound build and opened in January 2022 as the first site in the Surge Padel chain. A second venue has since followed in Bristol.

Surge positions itself as a premium operator, and the Harrogate club holds a 4.8 star Google rating across more than 80 reviews, with regular mentions of the lighting quality, court condition and friendly front-of-house team.

The padel courts

Surge Padel Harrogate has six full-size double padel courts, all indoor and all branded Adidas. Courts use a crystal glass back wall with synthetic turf playing surface and are lit by overhead LED panels.

The court hall is climate controlled, which keeps conditions playable through North Yorkshire winters when most outdoor courts are off limits. Play is consistent across early morning and evening sessions thanks to the overhead lighting setup.

The site does not currently operate any outdoor or singles courts. All six courts are bookable individually, listed as C1 to C6 on the Playtomic schedule, and there is a viewing area on the side of the hall for spectators, coaches and parents.

Booking and access

Courts are booked through Playtomic. You can book a padel court on Playtomic or use the booking widget on the venue website, with 60 and 90 minute slots offered across the day.

Live rates show at the booking step on Playtomic. The club splits the timetable into peak and off-peak windows: peak runs Monday to Friday 14:00 to 22:00 and weekends 10:00 to 20:00, with remaining daytime and early morning slots priced as off-peak.

Opening hours are Monday to Friday 06:00 to 22:00 and Saturday and Sunday 08:00 to 20:00. The last off-peak booking starts at 13:00 on weekdays and 09:00 at weekends.

The club offers prepaid Club Wallet credit packs that add a bonus to your balance. Bronze gives 110 pounds of credit for 100 pounds, Silver 224 for 200, Gold 345 for 300, and Platinum 600 for 500 - a 20 percent bonus on the top tier.

For questions on bookings, memberships or block reservations, contact the team on +44 1423 224 752 or am.harrogate@surgepadel.co.uk. Free on-site parking and free WiFi are included.

Padel programme and social

The club runs a full calendar of adult and junior padel leagues, inter-club championships and one-off tournaments. Regular mix-in sessions cater for players looking for a game without organising a four.

The on-site pro shop stocks rackets, grips, balls and apparel, and equipment hire is available at reception for first-time visitors or anyone travelling light.

Coaching is delivered by an in-house team led by head coach Javi, an LTA Padel certified coach and LTA Padel tutor who was the UK number one ranked player from 2017 to 2019. He is supported by senior coaches Alberto and Jake. See the coaching tab for tiers and pricing.

After play, the on-site bar and lounge area is a natural meeting point. The shared building with the Coach gym means members can pair padel with strength work in one trip.

Best for

The venue suits players who want a premium indoor experience and reliable year-round play. There is strong appeal for Harrogate, Knaresborough, Wetherby and north Leeds residents who would rather not drive into city centres for a hit.

The mix of leagues, coaching, social play and a serious pro shop makes it a good fit for beginners building a routine and improvers chasing a ranking, as well as families using the junior programme.

It is less suited to players hunting bargain casual rates or those who specifically want outdoor courts, since pricing reflects the premium fit-out and the whole site is indoor only. Walk-ins are also not recommended at peak times - book ahead on Playtomic to secure a court.
