Ace Padel Club Weston Rhyn

Ace Padel Club Weston Rhyn is Shropshire’s first dedicated padel venue, set within the grounds of Lion Quays Resort at Weston Rhyn, Gobowen, Oswestry SY11 3EN. The club opened in 2025 as a partnership between Ace Padel and the four-star Lion Quays hotel and spa.

The three-court venue sits just off the A5 between Oswestry and Chirk, around five miles from junction 4 of the A483 and a short drive from Gobowen railway station. Players from Shrewsbury and Wrexham reach the courts in under thirty minutes by road.

The club page lives on the resort site at lqresorts.co.uk, with day-to-day updates posted on Instagram at @acepadelclubuk. The Lion Quays Facebook page also carries event announcements and resort news.

The padel courts

Ace Padel Club Weston Rhyn operates three full-size doubles courts, all outdoor with crystal glass back walls and synthetic grass surfaces. Each court is floodlit for evening play and named after a local sponsor: Matt Owen Electrical Services, Now Group, and D Powell Plumbing and Heating.

The crystal panoramic spec gives clear sightlines for spectators on the resort lawns. The synthetic grass surface plays well across the Shropshire seasons, and racket hire is available on site for newcomers who want to try the sport before buying their own kit.

Booking and access

Courts are bookable online through Playtomic. The full schedule and live rates show at the booking step on the Ace Padel Club page on Playtomic, with sixty, ninety and one-hundred-and-twenty minute slots across all three courts.

The booking system accepts on-site payment as well as online card payment. Cancellations made more than twenty-four hours before the slot are refunded in full, and players can manage bookings directly in the Playtomic app.

Opening hours run Monday to Friday from 06:30 to 22:00, and Saturday and Sunday from 08:00 to 20:00. The schedule gives early-morning and late-evening access throughout the week, including before-work and after-work slots for local players.

Free car parking is available on the Lion Quays Resort site. Changing rooms with showers, lockers and free WiFi are open to all players.

The club phone is +44 1691 684300 for enquiries about court availability, coaching and group bookings. Group hires and corporate sessions for the wider Lion Quays Resort guest base can also be arranged through the same number.

Programme and social padel

Ace Padel Club Weston Rhyn runs a regular mix of social sessions, ladder events and beginner mornings, posted week by week on its Instagram channel. The format mixes round-robin play, americanos and themed nights aimed at building a steady community of local players.

The venue is part of the wider Ace Padel chain, which also operates sister venues at Milton in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Shared events and inter-club fixtures occasionally rotate between the three clubs across the season.

Coaching is run on site for individuals, pairs and small groups. The venue runs lessons through the Ace Padel coaching team - see the coaching tab for the current tiers and pricing. Junior sessions and school holiday camps sit alongside the resort’s family programme.

Best for padel in Weston Rhyn

Ace Padel Club Weston Rhyn suits players living in north Shropshire, Oswestry, Wrexham and the wider Welsh border who want a dedicated padel facility close to home, rather than driving to Chester or Birmingham for a game.

The resort setting adds a leisure dimension that pure padel barns cannot match. The spa, swimming pool, restaurant and hotel rooms make it a natural choice for a day-out fixture or a padel weekend with friends and family.

The three-court layout means peak evening slots fill up quickly, so it is less suited to last-minute walk-up play on weekday evenings. Players who prefer fully indoor courts year-round will want to check the forecast before booking, since all three courts are open to the elements.
