About Smash Padel Whitstable

Smash Padel Whitstable is a community-focused padel venue at Whitstable Rugby Football Club, Reeves Way, Chestfield, Whitstable CT5 3QS. The site sits just south of Whitstable on the Kent coast, reached via the A299 Thanet Way, around a ten-minute drive from Faversham and Herne Bay.

The club is part of the Smash Padel UK chain, which also operates sites in Bicester, Oxford, Mid Sussex and Cardiff, with further venues confirmed for Bathampton, Surbiton, Hornsey, Taunton and Eltham. The Whitstable team is led by centre manager Craig and LTA-accredited L3 coach Marianne.

The format is pay-and-play with a friendly club feel, welcoming complete beginners, racket-sport converts and competitive padel players alongside the rugby club community. Free intro sessions, a six-week PADELXpress beginner course and an active social calendar give newcomers a clear path in, while regular matchplay tournaments keep stronger players engaged.

The padel courts

The venue offers three panoramic canopy-covered padel courts, allowing play in all weather conditions year round. The canopy structure shelters players from rain and strong sun while keeping the playing experience close to an outdoor feel, with airflow on warm days and floodlighting through to the 10pm closing time.

The full panoramic glass back walls make the courts well suited to coaching, spectating from the rugby clubhouse side and filming match clips for video review. Padel racket hire is available on site at £3 per hour for players who want to try the game before investing in their own kit, and balls are supplied at the desk.

Booking and access

From 1 October 2025 all court bookings moved to Nettla, the chain-wide booking and club management platform used across every Smash Padel site. Players download the Nettla app on iOS or Android, create an account and book Whitstable courts directly with live availability.

Courts are open 7am to 10pm, seven days a week, with peak rates in evenings and at weekends and lower off-peak pricing in weekday daytime slots. Live per-court rates and any current promotions are shown at the booking step inside Nettla. The team can be reached on 07562 957839 or at whitstable@smashpadel.co.

On-site parking is available at the rugby club, and changing facilities, showers and a licensed bar are shared with the RFC. The venue is around a mile from Chestfield and Swalecliffe railway station, with regular services from Whitstable, Faversham and London Victoria via Bromley South.

Padel programme and social play

The social calendar is one of the venue’s strongest features. Regular formats include Americanos, mix-in nights, Up and Active sessions, You 3 and Me, Cardio Padel classes and seasonal matchplay tournaments, with sign-up handled through Nettla. Free intro sessions run for newcomers.

The six-week PADELXpress course is the standard pathway from first hit to confident social player. Junior padel is well developed, with Smashers and Juniors programmes for younger children and an Academy and Performance tier for stronger juniors up to 17, led by youth coach Billy.

The venue runs adult coaching through its in-house team - see the coaching tab for tiers and pricing. Pro-shop stock and racket demo days appear through the season, promoted via the venue’s Facebook page.

Best for

Smash Padel Whitstable suits coastal Kent players who want a sociable, weather-protected venue with a clear beginner pathway and a strong junior programme. The pay-and-play model, free intro sessions and active mix-ins make it especially friendly for first-timers and players new to the area.

Stronger competitive players who want a deep ladder structure may find more in larger metropolitan clubs in London or Brighton. For the three-court setup, panoramic canopies, in-house coaching and Nettla booking experience, Whitstable is a strong year-round option in north Kent and convenient for residents of Canterbury, Faversham, Herne Bay and the Isle of Sheppey.
