APT Padel Tour
APT Padel Tour was the former name of A1 Padel, an independent professional tour that runs outside the FIP system. It rebranded to A1 Padel in 2023. The tour was historically strongest in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico) and operated as the main alternative to Premier Padel and the old World Padel Tour.
What was the APT Padel Tour?
APT Padel Tour was an independent professional padel tour that ran from the late 2010s as an alternative to the World Padel Tour. It was popular among Latin American players who could not afford to relocate to Spain for WPT events. APT events had smaller prize pools but lower entry barriers.
When did APT rebrand to A1 Padel?
APT rebranded to A1 Padel in 2023, around the same time as the WPT-Premier Padel merger. The rebrand reflected a strategic repositioning as the main alternative to the now-unified FIP-sanctioned tour. A1 Padel continues to operate independently of the FIP system.
How APT/A1 fits the pro tour landscape
A1 Padel runs alongside but separate from Premier Padel and the CUPRA FIP Tour. Players can compete in both, although top-tier Premier Padel events take ranking priority. The A1 Padel calendar is concentrated in Latin America with selected European stops. Multiple sources reported A1 quiet in 2026 - check current status.
Quick reference: APT = former name. A1 Padel = current name. Independent tour outside FIP/Premier Padel.
Common misconceptions
APT and A1 Padel are the same tour - APT was the original name, A1 Padel is the current name after the 2023 rebrand. Some older content still uses APT. A1 Padel is not affiliated with the FIP or Premier Padel; it operates as an independent alternative tour.
