LTA Padel Rankings: How to Get One and How Points Work

LTA Padel Rankings: How to Get One and How Points Work
The short answer

An LTA padel ranking is your national position in Great Britain, worked out from points you win at graded LTA Padel Tour events. To get one, join LTA Advantage, which is free to sign up to, and play in a sanctioned Grade 1 to Grade 5 tournament. Your ranking counts your best six results from the last 52 weeks and updates weekly. The LTA also has a separate padel rating, which is a self-assessed level. Last updated: October 2026.

What are LTA padel rankings?

The LTA runs the national padel ranking lists for Great Britain. Points are awarded at all LTA Padel Tour and LTA Padel Senior Tour tournaments, and the number depends on the grade and type of event. There are two lists, the LTA Padel Rankings and the LTA Padel Senior Rankings, and the LTA explains them on its padel rankings page.

If you have never entered a tournament, you will not have a ranking, and that is normal.

LTA padel ranking or LTA padel rating?

People mix these up all the time, and the LTA treats them as two different things. A ranking comes from tournament results. A rating is an estimate of your skill level that clubs can use to organise coaching, social sessions and matches between players of similar ability.

The LTA says its rating system uses a scale to help players identify their standard. On the LTA’s rating page you pick the statement that best describes your play, and it runs from beginner up to the top of the professional game. That page sits behind a free LTA account, so we have not reproduced the full descriptions here. You do not need a rating to enter a tournament, and a rating does not give you ranking points. Our guide to padel levels compares the main systems clubs use.

How to get an LTA padel ranking

The LTA gives two requirements. You must be an LTA Advantage member, and you must compete in an LTA-sanctioned Grade 1 to Grade 5 padel tournament. Points are awarded for the grade of the event and your result.

  1. Sign up to LTA Advantage. The LTA says it is free and takes a couple of minutes, and it gives you the LTA membership number you need to enter.
  2. Find a tournament in the LTA competitions portal and check its entry deadline and conditions.
  3. Complete the online entry, usually with a partner, since padel is played in pairs.
  4. Play. Your result earns points, and the ranking list picks them up in its weekly calculation.

How the points work

Four rules from the LTA cover most of what club players need to know.

  • Best six results. Your ranking is built from your best six results in the previous 52 weeks. Results older than that drop out.
  • One set of points per event. If you play both the qualifying and main draw of a tournament, you get one set of points.
  • Grade and result both matter. The LTA publishes a points table for each age group. Check the current table on the LTA page for exact figures.
  • Weekly updates. The LTA calculates the rankings once a week from graded tournament results.

Age groups follow the same idea. The LTA publishes separate point tables for 11U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U and Open, and a Seniors table. When a junior moves up an age group, the LTA says they may keep their ranking points for up to 12 months.

Which grade should you enter?

The LTA splits its competitions into five grades. For most club players the choice is between the bottom two.

GradeNameLevel, per the LTAHow you get in
5Local TourBeginnerFirst come, first served
4County TourBeginner to intermediateBased on the LTA Padel Rankings
3Regional TourIntermediate to advancedBased on the LTA Padel Rankings
2LTA Padel TourAdvancedBased on the LTA Padel Rankings
1LTA Padel TourAdvanced to professionalBased on the LTA Padel Rankings

Grade 5 is the way in. The LTA describes it as local, first come first served, and it can run on a single court. Draws are small compass draws, so every pair plays at least three matches. It earns ranking points. Grade 4 and above accept entries based on the rankings, so you will want a few Grade 5 results behind you first. That last point is our reading of how the entry rules fit together.

Some events suit particular groups. The LTA Padel Youth Tour is for juniors, and the GB Seniors Tour welcomes players aged 40 and over of any ability. For team play, the LTA Cupra Padel National League is the route, and our UK padel leagues guide covers it. For dates and venues, see our UK padel events and tournaments calendar.

How to check your ranking

The LTA hosts the live lists on its competitions site, with one for LTA Padel Rankings and one for LTA Padel Senior Rankings. Open the list to find the latest positions. Your position changes each week as results are added and old ones pass the 52 week mark.

Start from the LTA padel rankings page, which links to both lists. We do not quote any players’ positions here, because they change every week and the LTA page is the only source worth trusting.

Before you go for your first event

Pick a partner whose level matches yours. If you do not have one, our guide to finding a padel partner can help. Check the entry deadline on the tournament page, and make sure your LTA membership number is on your account before you enter.
