About The Racquet Collective

The Racquet Collective is Tasmania’s first dedicated padel facility, located at Unit 2/30 Innocent Street, Kings Meadows TAS 7249. Kings Meadows sits roughly five kilometres south of central Launceston off the Midland Highway, with free on-site parking at the door.

The venue opened in late April 2026 inside a converted warehouse and shares the building with three pickleball courts under the same roof. You can read more about the venue on the Racquet Collective website.

Co-founders Nick Fader, Eliane Fader and Charlie Eastoe spotted the gap while travelling between Sydney and Vietnam, then built the state’s first padel home from scratch within a year of breaking ground. The venue’s WiFi-equipped lounge gives players somewhere comfortable to wait between sessions or hang around after a game.

The padel courts

The Racquet Collective runs two full-size indoor padel courts, both panoramic double courts measuring the standard 20 by 10 metres. The playing surface is synthetic grass with sand infill, the format used across most modern Australian clubs.

Both courts sit under a permanent warehouse roof with LED lighting, so play is unaffected by Tasmania’s weather year-round. The panoramic end-glass design opens up sightlines for spectators in the adjoining lounge, which doubles as a social hub on match nights.

Pickleball courts share the building but operate as separate bookable spaces, so padel sessions are not disturbed by neighbouring play. Court names on the booking platform are simply Padel 1 and Padel 2.

Booking padel and access

Court hire is pay and play with no membership required. Casual rates on the venue website list padel at $15 per person per hour off-peak and $20 per person per hour on-peak. Equipment hire costs a flat $5 per person if you need a racket and balls.

Per-court totals scale with player numbers - four players at on-peak rates work out to roughly $80 per court per hour. Bookings open online through Playtomic in 60, 90 or 120 minute blocks - you can book a court on Playtomic directly.

You can also reserve by calling 0420 309 623, or email admin@racquetcollective.com.au for group enquiries and corporate sessions. Opening hours run Monday to Thursday 8:00 to 21:00, Friday 8:00 to 22:00, Saturday 9:00 to 22:00 and Sunday 9:00 to 20:30. Disabled access is available at the entry and through to the court area.

Padel programme and social

The Racquet Collective leans heavily into social play. The team runs mixed-skill rotation sessions where players cycle through matches while others watch from the lounge, and weekend sessions are programmed alongside live sport on the big screen at the bar.

A founding members programme is open for early adopters, with broader membership tiers flagged for release once the venue beds in. Corporate team-building packages are bookable directly with the venue and have been a strong early draw for Launceston employers.

Coaching plans have been signalled as the player base grows - check the coaching tab for the current offer. The wine barrel bar tables, snack bar and lounge make this one of the more relaxed padel atmospheres in Australia, with plenty to do between games.

Best for padel in Launceston

The Racquet Collective is the obvious starting point for anyone in Tasmania who wants to try padel. It is currently the only dedicated padel venue in the state, with the operators flagging a future expansion to Hobart.

The casual rates, racket hire and rotation format make it especially welcoming for first-timers, small groups and corporate teams. The indoor roof means you can play any day of the year regardless of Launceston’s wet winter weather.

Players chasing a packed competitive league or a wide tournament calendar may need to wait while the scene matures. For social padel, after-work games and corporate sessions in Launceston this is the only address you need.
