About Padelwest

Padelwest brings padel to Melville, sitting inside the Melville Palmyra Tennis Club at the corner of Canning Highway and Stock Road, Melville WA 6156. The site is a short hop south of the Swan River on the corner of two of Perth’s main arterials, with the Kwinana Freeway and Leach Highway both a few minutes away by car.

Founded by Ashwin Sharma and Zach Itzstein after a trip to the French Open sparked their interest in the sport, the venue is one of the first dedicated padel operations in Western Australia. More on the founders’ story is on the Padelwest website.

The pair partnered with the established tennis club to drop two courts onto the Melville site, opening to the public in 2024 and serving casual players, social groups and members across the wider Fremantle and South Perth catchment.

The padel courts

Padelwest operates two outdoor padel courts, labelled Padel 1 and Padel 2, both built to full-size doubles dimensions of 20 by 10 metres. The courts were fabricated by European padel specialists and shipped to Perth, with synthetic grass surface, tempered-glass back walls and metal mesh side fencing in the standard panoramic layout.

Both courts are floodlit for evening play, with the lighting on a PIN-code activation system that takes a couple of minutes to warm up once players arrive. There is no roof, so play is weather dependent, but the Perth climate keeps the courts usable for most of the year.

The clubhouse next door provides shade, seating and a vending machine stocked with padel balls if you forget to bring your own.

Booking and access

Courts are bookable online through the venue’s SportLogic system, available at the Padelwest booking page. The minimum slot is 60 minutes, with 15-minute increments after that for longer hits. Padelwest is not on Playtomic, so all reservations route through the SportLogic portal or via the contact details below.

Off-peak rates run Monday to Friday from 6am to 4:30pm at $12 per person ($48 per court) for 60 minutes. Peak rates apply weekday evenings from 4:30pm to 10pm and all day weekends at $15 per person ($60 per court) for 60 minutes.

A monthly membership of $80 includes complimentary off-peak bookings, suited to players who hit the courts mid-week during the day.

Courts are available daily from 6am to 10pm. Onsite parking is provided through the Melville Palmyra Tennis Club car park, with change rooms, showers and a licensed clubhouse bar in the same building. Racket hire is available at the venue, and free WiFi covers the clubhouse area. For bookings or general enquiries, email hello@padelwest.com.au or call +61 430 403 140.

Programme and social

Padelwest runs a programme of social padel sessions, mix-ins and beginner clinics throughout the week, designed to help newcomers find regular hitting partners. The venue hosts the Padelwest Summer League and is a participating club in the WA State League 2026, with both ladder and round-robin formats running across the season.

Coaching is delivered in-house by head coach Zach Itzstein, supported by senior coach Sergio Casas. The programme covers private lessons, small-group clinics and beginner courses for first-timers. Detailed pricing and tier breakdown appear on the coaching tab. Social fixtures and league updates are posted to the venue’s Instagram feed through the week.

Best for padel in Melville

Padelwest is a strong fit for Perth players in the southern suburbs looking for accessible casual hits, social leagues and structured coaching at modest pay-and-play prices. The off-peak monthly membership gives regulars a low-cost route into mid-week play.

It is less suited to players chasing indoor all-weather facilities, large-scale tournaments needing four or more courts, or those who want last-minute booking via Playtomic. Players in Perth’s northern suburbs may find the West Coast Padel courts at Dalkeith a closer alternative.
