About Peak District Padel

Peak District Padel is at Calver Sports Field, Polly Froggatt Ln, Calver, Hope Valley S32 3XH. It has two outdoor panoramic padel courts, open from 7am to 10pm every day and booked on Playtomic, with peak court hire at £32 per court per hour.

The club opened in 2026 as the first padel club in the heart of the Peak District National Park, in the village of Calver in Derbyshire. The game is played outdoors under the open sky, with the hills and trees of the national park around the courts.

The padel courts

There are two purpose-built outdoor courts, both panoramic doubles courts: one is The Calver Arms Court and the other is named after Café 19. Each takes its name from a club partner across the road, and both are booked in the same way on Playtomic.

With no roof, every game is an open-air game. A breeze moves the ball off the glass and a damp court plays slower, so check the forecast, bring a layer for cool evenings in the hills and wear padel or court shoes with good grip.

Two courts means a group of eight can play side by side, and a pair looking for opponents can often find a game on the other court at the same hour.

Because the club is set in the national park rather than a town, a game is easy to pair with a walk or a ride in the hills. Booking ahead on Playtomic is the simplest way to fit a match into a day out, especially at weekends when slots go first.

Booking and access

Courts are booked on Playtomic, in the app or on the website. Peak court hire is £32 per court per hour, which is £8 each when four players share, and the app shows the live price for every slot before you pay.

Court slots on Playtomic last an hour and start on the hour or the half hour, so a booking is easy to fit around a walk in the hills or a meal at one of the partner venues across the road.

Racket and ball use is free with every booking, so there is no need to own kit before a first game; balls are also on sale. Courts are open from 07:00 to 22:00, seven days a week.

Regular players can join the club membership at £99 per year. Members can book courts up to 21 days in advance and get 10% off their bookings.

Parking is free on site. For questions, call the club on +44 7790 025289, or follow news and dates on Instagram.

Programme and social

The club runs coaching sessions for players who want to improve, and social events for anyone looking to meet other players. Leagues and tournaments give regular players competitive games through the year.

The welcoming community is open to players of all levels, from beginners and casual players to seasoned competitors, so a social event is an easy way in for anyone new to the area or to the sport.

Before or after a match, the club partners with the Calver Arms and Café 19, just across the road, for a coffee with friends or a drink after the game. Both are off the club site, just over the road from the courts.

Best for

Peak District Padel suits players in Calver and the surrounding Peak District villages who want to play close to home, and visitors who want a game in the national park. Free rackets and balls make it an easy first try at padel.

New players can start with a coaching session; the beginner’s guide to padel in the UK and padel rules explained cover the basics before a first game.
