About Glossop Padel

Glossop Padel sits at 130 Woolley Bridge, Hadfield, Glossop SK13 2NX, on the western edge of the Peak District. The venue runs three indoor panoramic padel courts and opens seven days a week from 07:00 to 23:00.

It is roughly ten minutes from junction 4 of the M67 and a short drive from the A57 and A628 Woodhead Pass, making it an easy stop for players from Glossop, Hadfield, Hyde, Stalybridge and the wider High Peak.

The club was opened by local couple Cliff and Emma, who were close friends of boxing legend Ricky Hatton from their school days. To honour his memory, one of the courts has been named the Ricky Hatton Court.

£1 from every hour played on that court is donated to the Ricky Hatton Foundation. A mural by local artist Deggy now sits inside the building, with print sales also supporting the foundation’s mental health work.

The padel courts

Glossop Padel runs three indoor, doubles-sized panoramic courts under a permanent roof, meaning play continues whatever the High Peak weather is doing. All three courts are floodlit for evening sessions through to 23:00.

Each court has the standard 20m by 10m playing area with full glass back walls and reduced side mesh, giving players the wraparound visibility associated with show-court setups. The headline court is the Ricky Hatton Court, marked out by its dedicated mural.

Courts 2 and 3 follow the same panoramic specification and are interchangeable for standard bookings. Rackets are available to hire at reception, with a small selection also on sale for players who want to upgrade from the entry-level loaners.

Booking and access

All court bookings run through Glossop Padel on Playtomic. Live rates show at the checkout step, with peak and off-peak slots and 60 or 90 minute durations available.

Bookings are taken as pay-and-play, so there is no membership requirement to access the courts. Cancellation windows and any prepaid credit packs are confirmed at the booking step. Junior players are welcome through the beginner academy.

Free on-site parking sits directly outside the building, with step-free access into reception. Lockers are provided for valuables, and a snack bar serves hot and cold drinks alongside a vending machine. A larger viewing gallery and seating area is listed as coming soon.

The fastest way to reach the team is the venue WhatsApp on +44 7946 293364, which doubles as the contact for general enquiries and group bookings.

Padel programme and social play

The academy schedule on Playtomic includes weekly sessions such as Next Steps for beginners, Tuesday Skills and Drills, Matchplay With The Coach and Master The Glass. Most classes run for 60 minutes and are priced in the £18 to £20 range per player.

Sessions are open to bookings through the Playtomic class tab and tend to fill quickly during evenings. Beginners can pick up the basics in a structured setting before joining open court bookings or social play.

Social play is anchored by the Midweek Americano, a Wednesday morning 09:00 round-robin for eight players with no level restriction and a £14 entry fee. Additional tournament and mix-in events are added through Playtomic as the calendar fills.

Best for padel in Glossop

Glossop Padel is the natural choice for High Peak and east Tameside players who want an indoor, weather-proof venue with long opening hours and easy parking. The three panoramic courts suit casual groups, beginners coming through the academy and competitive players looking for midweek Americanos.

The Ricky Hatton Court adds a local-legacy angle that turns each booking into a small contribution to the foundation. It is less of a fit for players looking for outdoor courts, a full restaurant, gym or spa setup, or a members-only club environment.

For those needs a larger multi-sport site further into Greater Manchester will be a better match. For straightforward, well-run indoor padel within ten minutes of Glossop town centre, this is the venue to book.
