GSM Padel

GSM Padel is a community-built indoor padel club at Bracken Barn, Holmes Chapel Road, Congleton CW12 4SN. The site sits just off the A534, a short drive from the A34 and M6 junction 17.

The venue occupies a converted Youngs Animal Feeds storage unit and opened in early 2026. Congleton-born founders Jack Whiston-Rowe and Conor Wilkins funded the build through local community backing rather than private equity.

It is the first dedicated padel facility in Congleton itself, serving players across Cheshire East including Macclesfield, Sandbach, Holmes Chapel and Crewe. Full venue details sit on the GSM Padel website, with all bookings handled through Playtomic.

The padel courts

The facility runs three full-size indoor padel courts under the converted barn roof. They are named Sienna’s Court 1, Cheshire Flooring Solutions Court 2 and Congleton Town FC Court 3, in recognition of the local sponsors who helped fund the build.

All three are standard double doubles courts with glass back walls and a synthetic turf playing surface, suited to social, club and league standards of play. Because the courts sit inside a permanent covered structure, play continues year-round regardless of Cheshire weather, with even LED lighting throughout for clear evening visibility.

Phase two plans include adding outdoor courts on the adjacent site once the indoor club is established, giving members and visitors a summer alternative under open sky. The current three-court setup keeps booking density manageable while the venue grows its membership.

Booking and access

All court reservations run through Playtomic - you can book a court at GSM Padel on Playtomic via the app or the web. Live per-court and per-person rates show at the booking step, with standard 60 and 90 minute slots available across the daily schedule.

Free rental rackets are included in every booking, so newcomers and travelling players do not need to bring their own kit. Opening hours are Monday 06:00 to 23:00, Tuesday to Friday 07:00 to 23:00, and Saturday and Sunday 07:00 to 22:00.

The club operates a standard Playtomic cancellation window, so check the app for the current notice period. Padel programme and social

GSM Padel runs a busy weekly programme alongside open bookings. The in-house GSM Padel League gives regular players a structured competition route, while a monthly Fast-4 Competition on Fridays through the Playtomic app caters to those who want shorter, faster knockout play.

Social sessions include beginner socials, ladies socials and morning coffee socials, all bookable in advance. The cafe and bar area at the front of the building serves coffee, tea, beer on tap and Prosecco, and there is an on-site club shop stocking rackets, balls and branded GSM clothing.

Best for

GSM Padel suits Congleton, Macclesfield and Cheshire East players who want a genuine community club rather than a corporate chain. Year-round indoor play, free racket hire and friendly socials make it a strong fit for beginners taking a first lesson, and for returning racket-sport players moving across from tennis or squash.

Competitive members looking for in-house league play within easy driving distance of home are well served by the GSM Padel League and the monthly Fast-4 competition.

It is less suitable for players who specifically want outdoor padel under open sky in summer, or visitors hunting a luxury wellness offer with pool, sauna and spa - the focus here is squarely on padel, coaching and a warm cafe-bar atmosphere.
