About The Hook Club at Mottram Hall

The Hook Club at Mottram Hall sits in the landscaped grounds of Champneys Mottram Hall on Wilmslow Road, Mottram St Andrew, Macclesfield, SK10 4QT. The site is just off the A538 between Wilmslow and Prestbury, about 15 minutes from Macclesfield town centre and 20 minutes from Manchester Airport.

Opened in July 2024 as the first venue from The Padel Group, the £400,000 facility was developed in partnership with the Champneys-branded country resort. It has quickly become one of Cheshire’s most polished outdoor padel destinations, blending estate parkland with Cheshire railings, meticulous landscaping and a heated patio.

The venue website handles general enquiries while all court bookings flow through Playtomic. Resort guests, day visitors and local league players share the same booking flow with no membership barrier.

The padel courts

Play happens on four Superpanoramic professional-standard courts manufactured by Spanish brand Padelgest, whose courts have featured on the World Padel Tour circuit. The double-glass panoramic design gives unobstructed sightlines from the sides and rear, which suits social spectators and league play.

The courts are listed on Playtomic as Court One through Court Four. They run outdoors with full floodlighting for evening sessions, so the venue keeps a near-identical timetable through autumn and winter. Underfoot is artificial turf in keeping with the modern panoramic court spec.

The original build was three courts at opening; the venue expanded to four within its first year of operation to meet local demand. The build quality is consistent with the original Padelgest installation, with sheltered positioning inside the estate that limits crosswind interference on the ball.

Booking padel and access

All court time is booked through Playtomic, with live availability, cancellation windows and dynamic pricing visible at checkout. Standard slots run 60 or 90 minutes. Live rates show at the booking step and you do not need to stay at the resort to book a court.

Opening hours run 07:00 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday and 08:00 to 22:00 on Sunday. The full floodlit setup means the timetable barely changes between summer and winter, which is rare for an English outdoor venue.

Onsite parking covers 25 dedicated spaces in the Mottram Hall estate car park. Step-free access runs from the car park through to the courts and clubhouse, and racket hire is available at reception for visiting players who arrive without kit.

Programme and social

The club’s programme is led by coach coordinator Jon Cain alongside padel manager Joanne Patterson and padel professionals Sam Brown and Mike Rouse. The Hook Club Academy covers structured group sessions for adults, beginner clinics, junior pathways and one-to-one private coaching.

Social play is the heartbeat of the week. Americano-style mixers, themed mix-ins and weekend social ladders appear on the Playtomic events tab, with academy classes typically starting from around £15 to £18 per player. The Academy tab on the venue website carries full programme detail.

A fully licensed clubhouse with integrated sound system, fitted changing rooms and the heated patio keeps the post-match atmosphere relaxed. The wider Mottram Hall resort adds spa, restaurant and pool access for guests, which gives the venue a softer, lifestyle feel you rarely get at a standalone padel club.

Best for

The Hook Club suits Cheshire and south Manchester padel players who want premium outdoor courts within easy reach of the A538 corridor and Manchester Airport. It also fits visitors who want to combine a Mottram Hall stay with structured padel play across a weekend.

Improvers benefit from the structured academy ladder, while social players will find regular mixers and Americano nights through Playtomic. Pure competitive league players currently have one outdoor-only site, so wet-weather backup plans matter through the British winter.
