Padel United Colchester

Padel United Colchester is a five-court padel venue at Eudo Road, Colchester CO2 7XE, in the Shrub End area on the south-west side of town. The site sits roughly three miles from Colchester town centre and is reached easily off the A12 and A133, with free on-site parking for players and spectators.

The venue is part of the Padel United UK network of thirteen-plus padel sites across the country, sitting alongside sister venues at Chelmsford and Maldon in the same Essex cluster. Across the country, the group has built a reputation for accessible, club-style padel that welcomes complete beginners alongside league regulars.

Colchester is the largest dedicated padel site in north Essex, holding a 4.6 average rating on Google. Padel at Padel United Colchester runs from mid-morning into the evening seven days a week, with a busy social mix-in calendar and a junior coaching programme that has grown quickly since the courts opened.

The padel courts

There are five full-size outdoor padel courts at Eudo Road. Four are standard 20m x 10m doubles courts with panoramic glass back walls for cleaner sightlines, and the fifth is a dedicated singles court - useful for one-to-one coaching, fast-paced rallies and tournament play.

Each court is named after a local sponsor: The Echelon Court, Michaels Property Court, Allard Office Furniture Court, Redbridge Design Court and The Lambert Chapman singles court. All five are floodlit, so evening sessions run comfortably year-round until the 21:00 close on weekdays.

Booking and access

Court bookings run through Playtomic - book a court on Playtomic or via the mobile app. Live availability, court selection and payment all sit in one flow, and the Playtomic Classes tab is also where social mix-ins and group lessons are listed.

Headline rates run roughly £12 to £18 per hour per player for non-members at typical peak and off-peak slots, with 60 and 90 minute options on most days. Members and prepaid players see meaningfully lower rates. Exact live pricing and any duration discounts appear at the booking step on Playtomic.

Opening hours are Monday to Friday 09:30 to 21:00 and Saturday to Sunday 09:30 to 19:00. For enquiries the venue manager is Kai Woodgate on +44 7960 716465. Free unlimited on-site parking, accessible entry and changing rooms with lockers are all included, and racket hire is free when booked alongside a court.

Padel programme and social

The venue runs a full week of mix-in sessions through Playtomic Classes, mixing levels so newer players can land a competitive game without needing to bring three friends. Americano and round-robin formats appear regularly on weekends, with seasonal in-house tournaments listed on the social channels.

A growing junior programme runs after school and at weekends, alongside ladies’ sessions and a beginner pathway aimed at total newcomers. On-site there is a cafeteria for pre and post-match food and drinks, a small retail corner and a social area, which keeps the post-game catch-up close to the courts.

Coaching at Colchester is delivered in-house by the Padel United team - see the coaching tab on this page for tiers and pricing. Follow the venue on Instagram and Facebook at @padeluniteduk for tournament announcements and free taster sessions.

Best for padel in Colchester

Padel United Colchester suits players who want a modern, club-style outdoor venue with a real social calendar and proper coaching - rather than two retrofitted courts at the back of a leisure centre. The five-court setup keeps waits short at peak times and the singles court is a genuine differentiator in the region.

It is less ideal for players who need fully indoor, all-weather play through deep winter, since all five courts are open to the sky. For that the sister venue at Maldon offers covered courts within thirty minutes’ drive. Otherwise this is the strongest dedicated padel option in Colchester today.
