About Roehampton Club

Roehampton Club sits on Roehampton Lane in SW15 5LR, occupying a 102-acre estate on the edge of Richmond Park in south-west London. Padel arrived here in 2021 and quickly became one of the busiest racquets sections at this 125-year-old private members’ club.

The setup is compact but well-run: two purpose-built courts, one covered for year-round play and one outdoor, both booked through the members-only MyCourts system. Access is restricted to Roehampton Club members and signed-in guests, with no public Playtomic or Matchi option.

The padel courts

The club has two padel courts, both built to standard 20m x 10m dimensions with glass back walls and steel mesh sides. One court sits under a permanent cover installed during the original 2021 build, allowing play through rain and winter evenings.

The second court is fully outdoor and floodlit, so evening sessions run comfortably after dusk year round. The surface is artificial turf with sand infill - the standard specification used across competitive UK padel venues, giving consistent bounce and good footing for sliding shots.

Courts are kept tournament-ready. Roehampton has hosted LTA Padel Tour events and was runner-up in the National Padel Championships, so playing surfaces, nets and lighting are maintained to a high competitive standard rather than the lighter touch used at casual leisure venues.

Booking and access

Booking is handled through the members-only MyCourts portal at roehamptonclub.mycourts.co.uk. Members log in, select padel from the courts tab, and reserve a slot from a rolling window. Racket hire is available at £5 per booking for members without their own kit.

The club enforces a strict no-show policy: a second missed booking within a rolling period triggers a seven-day ban. Guests must be signed in by a member and the host pays the guest fee at booking. Opening hours follow the wider club timetable - typically 7am to 10pm weekdays, with the covered court keeping winter play weather-proof.

Programme and social play

The padel programme is run by Head Padel Professional Paul Lindsay, who is also the club’s Racquets Manager, alongside professional coach Chris Salisbury - a former GB international padel player. Individual coaching runs at £60 per hour, and U3&Me / Matchplay coaching is the same rate for guided game-format sessions.

Term-time group coaching runs for adults (minimum three members) and juniors (minimum four members), including a regular under-14 slot on Wednesdays. Social sessions are free for members: a Ladies’ Club Morning on Mondays from 9.30am-10.30am, a Club Night on Mondays (2.0-3.5 at 6.30pm, 3.5+ at 7.30pm), and a Saturday Club Morning from 8.30am-10am.

An Over-60s Pay-and-Play session runs on Fridays from 11am-12pm at £12 per hour - one of the few sessions accessible at a per-court rate rather than via full membership. Members can join the internal padel leagues, which run across several ability bands, by emailing Paul Lindsay at paul.lindsay@roehamptonclub.co.uk.

The 2026 Padel Club Championships run 11-14 June, tying in with the club’s 125th anniversary year and finishing with finals and a barbecue on the Sunday. Categories include Open, Women’s Open, Mixed Open, O45 and O60 divisions, with entries handled through the MyCourts system in the weeks before play begins.

Best for

Roehampton Club padel works best for existing members and those willing to apply for membership - this is a private, multi-sport environment rather than a casual booking venue. Players who value a structured social calendar, competitive leagues and access to GB-level coaching get the most out of the two courts.

The covered court makes winter play reliable, the floodlit outdoor court extends summer evenings, and the wider club facilities - bar, restaurant, gym, swimming pools and 30+ tennis courts - mean a padel session can be combined with a longer day on site. For drop-in visitors, London has dedicated pay-and-play padel clubs better suited to that purpose.
