About Padel Garten by Glassbox

Padel Garten by Glassbox is a four-court outdoor padel club at 4928 College Ave, College Park, MD 20740. The site sits in the University of Maryland district, a short walk from the College Park Metro on the WMATA Green Line.

It is just inside the Capital Beltway (I-495) and minutes from US Route 1 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. The venue is one of the first dedicated padel facilities in the Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland region that the club calls the DMV.

The club leans into a community feel rather than a high-end racquet club aesthetic. “Garten” is German for garden, and the venue pairs its four courts with a casual outdoor lounge area where players can hang out before and after games.

The full address, including 20740 ZIP, sits on College Avenue directly across the street from the metro station. That makes drop-in play viable for car-free residents of DC, Hyattsville and Riverdale Park. Visit glassboxpadel.com for the latest updates.

The padel courts

Padel Garten by Glassbox runs four full-size outdoor doubles courts. Each is enclosed with the standard glass back walls and mesh side panels. The courts are floodlit so play continues comfortably into the evening, with the venue staying open until 10pm seven days a week.

Surfaces are synthetic turf laid to international padel specification, suited to both casual play and structured drills. Court 3 is the venue’s regular teaching court for the Beginner Padel Boost classes that run on Sunday afternoons.

Because all four courts are outdoors, play is weather dependent in winter and on rainy days. Checking the Playtomic feed before travelling is sensible during cooler months. Racket hire is available on site for visiting players who do not yet own equipment.

Booking and access

All courts are bookable through Playtomic. You can book a court on Playtomic directly, with live rates and slot availability shown at the booking step. Standard sessions run 60 or 90 minutes, with longer 120-minute blocks available when demand allows.

Pricing is shown per court on Playtomic, which players typically split between four for doubles play. The venue is open 9am to 10pm Monday through Sunday, so peak after-work and weekend slots fill quickly.

Membership is offered via Playtomic and gives discounted court rates plus access to member-only events and pro-shop offers. To become a member, visit the Playtomic memberships page for the current tiers and pricing.

Parking is available on College Avenue and surrounding streets, and the College Park Metro Station is directly across the road for players arriving from DC or further along the Green Line. Updates, weather closures and event news are shared through the venue’s Instagram account.

Padel programme and social

The club’s flagship recurring programme is Beginner Padel Boost, a dynamic class that helps new players build a solid technical base while discovering padel’s pace and rhythm. Sessions blend skill-building drills, simple doubles strategies and plenty of live rallies.

The schedule is published on the venue’s site and Instagram so players can plan their week. Beyond the beginner ladder, Padel Garten by Glassbox is positioned as a community hub for padel in the DMV.

The garden lounge encourages players to stay on after their booking, meet other regulars and arrange ad hoc games. That is helpful in a market where padel is still new and finding a fourth can be the hardest part of getting on court.

Best for

Padel Garten by Glassbox is best for College Park, DC and Maryland players who want a relaxed, outdoor, walk-up venue with simple Playtomic booking and a community vibe. The location across from the College Park Metro makes it particularly strong for car-free players coming from DC.

The structured Beginner Padel Boost class is a clear on-ramp for newcomers to the sport, and the garden lounge gives regulars somewhere to hang out between matches. Northern Prince George’s County players will also find this the closest dedicated padel venue.

Players who specifically want indoor, year-round, climate-controlled padel will be better served by a covered facility, as all four courts here are open to the elements. Competitive league players looking for a deep tournament calendar may find the programme lighter than at larger multi-court clubs.

I was staying in DC for Aug and intended to play ‘a bit’ of padel to balance sitting in a library doing research. I think I ended up being there almost 5x times a week for August! The owners Jacob & Kenza, Carla & Evan are very hands on with newcomers and hosting tournaments and events - instantly creating a feeling of welcome and inclusion. They quickly connected me with players - enough to open the door to the rest of the family! Not only did the GlassBox family elevate my padel game through offering coaching, regular matches and tournaments, I was also connected to the local DMV ladies padel group who introduced the idea of playing tournaments and the wider international world of padel. I played my first ever padel tournament at GlassBox ❤️ On a more objective note: GlassBox knows how to host an event/tournament! They have a BBQ that gets fired up at least twice a week by Jacob or Evan, and there is no skimping out on good, freshly cooked food for tournaments! GlassBox doesn’t fall into a traditional sports club model. It is a lively, community hub with a beating pulse, where people connect over a joint passion. The intensity of any given matches give way to warm, friendly smiles and hugs once the score is recorded. For me, GlassBox encourages a healthy sporting culture - balance between fun and competition: There’s enough structure and competitive ambition to encourage improvement, but not at the expense of enjoyment, inclusivity, or sportsmanship. GlassBox, thank you for showing me it IS possible for adults to play hard and stay fun! ❤️ Love and miss you GB fam - already hatching plans of how to come back as soon as the frost clears 🤣

Glassbox Padel has genuinely become so much more than somewhere I go to play padel. I came here simply wanting to learn a new sport, and somehow found a community that feels like family. From the owners to the players, there’s an inclusiveness and genuine kindness here that I think is incredibly rare. It doesn’t matter how good you are, how long you’ve been playing, or who you came with — people make you feel welcome. There have been days when simply coming here, playing for a couple of hours, laughing, competing, and being surrounded by good people completely changed the trajectory of my day. The owners have created something genuinely special in College Park. It feels less like joining a club and more like being welcomed into a family. Very grateful for the Glassbox team and family. ❤️🎾

I’m an adjunct faculty member at George Washington University, where I teach a course focused on entrepreneurship. Jacob, the owner of Glassbox Padel, was incredibly generous in giving my students the opportunity to visit, ask questions about his entrepreneurial journey and the business, and then experience the courts as well. The visit made a real impact by bringing entrepreneurship to life outside the classroom. I’m very grateful to Jacob and the Glassbox Padel team for being so welcoming. I would highly recommend other faculty bring their students for a unique and engaging hands-on learning experience!

Tried padel in DC for the first time at Glassbox after playing pickleball for a while and finally deciding to make the jump. Really glad I did. If you're looking for where to play padel near DC, this is the spot — easy Green Line access, no car needed, which is a big deal in this area. I'd never played before so I reached out ahead of time. They walked me through booking and joining a match without any hassle. Showed up, figured it out, had a blast. Best DC padel club I've found so far. Will definitely be back.
