Charlotte Padel Club - Matthews is the original home of padel in greater Charlotte. The venue sits at 2110 Pleasant Plains Road, Matthews, NC 28105, just outside the I-485 outer loop and roughly fifteen miles southeast of uptown Charlotte.

The club is inside the Matthews Tennis & Swim Club campus. Access is easy from US-74 (Independence Boulevard) and Highway 51, with quick drives from Ballantyne, Mint Hill, Stallings and Indian Trail.

Founders Miguel and Raquel Correa relocated from Miami and built the venue when they couldn’t find a single padel court in the Carolinas. The site grew from three outdoor courts to six and now anchors a fast-growing local scene.

The wider Charlotte Padel Club brand also operates a three-court indoor site at Sharon Lakes in South Charlotte. Matthews members can move between locations as weather and schedules shift.

The padel courts

The Matthews site has six double, panoramic padel courts built by MejorSet, the Spanish court-construction specialist. Court 1 is branded as Lamborghini Charlotte 1, courts 2 and 3 are roofed, and courts 4 through 6 are fully open-air.

The Correa family has confirmed plans to add 30-foot canopies over the three open courts. That keeps play running through Carolina summer storms and winter rain without losing the open-air feel.

Surfaces are synthetic grass with sand infill, and every court has tournament-grade LED floodlighting plus camera systems for streaming and review. The panoramic glass back walls give a clean sightline for spectators around the deck.

The layout puts all six courts within easy walking distance of the clubhouse, pro shop and the 4th Set coffee bar.

Booking and access

Courts are bookable through Playtomic, with live rates and availability shown at the booking step. The standard padel session in the US market is 90 minutes, and non-members are welcome alongside members.

Membership starts at fifty dollars per month with a reduced ninety-five dollar initiation fee. Members get a twenty percent discount on clinics and lessons. Paddle rental is ten dollars, and the on-site pro shop carries paddles in the one hundred to four hundred dollar range.

Padel programme and social

Director of Padel Pablo Lopez leads the coaching team. He brings more than twenty-six years of racket-sport coaching experience and over twelve years specifically in padel, with PTR certification.

The flagship beginner clinic is Padel 101 at the Matthews site, a structured intro covering rules, scoring, the three core shots and basic positioning. A Ladies Clinic Play series builds tactical understanding for women already comfortable with the basics.

The community calendar features open-play sessions sorted by skill level, mix-ins, internal leagues and the Charlotte Padel Club Invitational tournament, which most recently drew 68 players across multiple categories.

The club also hosts the BodyArmor State Games padel event sponsored by Adidas, and a wider tournament circuit with prize pools over eight thousand dollars. A Davis Cup-style team event is planned for the fall.

It works for both newcomers learning through Padel 101 and competitive players prepping for regional events. The Sharon Lakes sister site adds indoor backup when summer heat or weather makes outdoor play uncomfortable.

It is less suited to visitors who need full indoor climate control year-round, since only three of the six courts are roofed today. Players who prefer pickleball-style drop-in queues should note this is a Playtomic-booked, structured environment with level-matched social play.

In-house coaching led by Director of Padel Pablo Lopez, a PTR-certified coach with 26+ years of racket-sport experience and 12+ years specifically in padel. Programs include the Padel 101 beginner clinic, Ladies Clinic Play, private one-on-one sessions and small-group clinics for every level.
