Sydney Racquet Club

Sydney Racquet Club sits at 17 Park Road North, Moore Park NSW 2021, inside the Entertainment Quarter precinct. Founded in 2023 by TV presenter Darren McMullen alongside Lee Ritson and Tristan Dougan, the club brought padel and pickleball to one of Sydney’s busiest sporting hubs.

The venue is a short walk from Moore Park Light Rail and well connected via bus routes. The Entertainment Quarter car park offers two hours of free parking, with an evening flat rate of $7 after 6pm.

Racquet Club now operates across multiple Australian cities, with sister venues in Canberra, Melbourne and a Gold Coast location on the way. Around 80 per cent of visitors are newcomers to racquet sports.

The courts

The Moore Park venue has three outdoor doubles padel courts with a crystal synthetic surface installed by Synthetic Sports Group. All three courts are floodlit for evening play, keeping the facility open well after dark.

Alongside padel, there are five outdoor pickleball courts on concrete surfaces. Padel racquets are available to hire at $10 per session, with balls included in every court booking.

Booking and access

All court bookings are made through the Playtomic app, available on iOS and Android. The club is open seven days a week from 5am to midnight.

Padel court hire is charged per court per hour. Off-peak (Monday to Friday 5am - 5pm and 9.30pm - midnight) is $60 per court, which works out at $15 per person for four players. Peak hours (Monday to Friday 5pm - 9.30pm) are $100 per court, or $25 per person for four.

Weekend pricing flips - Saturday and Sunday daytime (5am - 5pm) is $100 per court, while evenings (5pm - midnight) drop to $60. Singles bookings follow the same court rate split between two players.

Playtomic wallet credit packs are available with bonus value. The Baseline Wallet costs $50 with a 1:1.17 redemption rate. Larger packs include Silver Serve ($237.50 for $250 credit), Gold Court ($495 for $550 credit), Platinum Pass ($892.50 for $1,050 credit) and Black Label ($1,640 for $2,225 credit).

If rain cancels an outdoor booking, the payment is automatically credited to a Playtomic wallet for a future session. Monthly membership costs $30 and gives 10 per cent off court hire, priority booking and 25 per cent off balls. Annual membership is $330 with the same benefits plus a complimentary drink each visit.

Programme and social

The club runs a structured weekly clinic programme at $50 per person. Sessions cover Intro to Padel, Lower Beginner, Upper Beginner, Intermediate, Defensive Masterclass and Attacking Masterclass. Ladies Morning clinics run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

A seasonal padel league operates through Playbypoint, with Division 1 entry at $150 per player for a 10-week season. The venue hosts regular social events including themed nights like Padel with Puppies and bottomless padel and pickleball sessions with partner brands.

The venue runs coaching through its team of instructors - see the coaching tab for session types and booking. Corporate and team-building events can be arranged by contacting the club directly for a tailored quote.

Best for

Sydney Racquet Club suits social players and beginners drawn to the bar-and-courts atmosphere. The Entertainment Quarter location makes it easy to combine padel with dining or shopping nearby.

The clinic programme and league give developing players a clear pathway. Serious competitors may find three courts limiting during peak hours, so booking ahead through Playtomic is recommended.

The club runs a structured weekly clinic programme across six levels from Intro to Padel to Attacking Masterclass, plus private and semi-private lessons available on request.
