Velocity Padel Widnes

Velocity Padel Widnes is a five-court indoor padel centre at Unit 1, Easter Park, Bennett’s Lane, Shell Green, Widnes WA8 0GW. The site sits just off the A562, with the Mersey Gateway Bridge and the M62 a short drive away.

That makes it an easy stop for players from Liverpool, Warrington, Runcorn and the wider Halton area. The venue is run by the team behind Velocity, who converted the former inflatable park into a dedicated padel facility in early 2026.

The building keeps the height and space of its previous life as a trampoline park. That means full-size courts with comfortable run-out, generous ceilings for high lobs and bright LED lighting throughout. Visit velocitypadel.co.uk for the latest event calendar, prices and intro session sign-up.

The padel courts

All five courts are indoor doubles courts with full panoramic glass back walls, which lets players, spectators and coaches see every angle of play. Playtomic lists each court as Padel 1 through Padel 5, all bookable as standard 20m by 10m doubles courts.

The synthetic grass surface is professionally installed with sand infill for a consistent bounce and reliable footing, and the indoor setting removes any weather variables so play continues through Cheshire winters and summer rain alike. Floodlighting runs the full length of the booking day, so an 11pm slot looks the same as a midday one.

Booking padel and access

Courts are booked through Playtomic at playtomic.com/clubs/velocity-padel or in the Playtomic app. A 90 minute court hire runs from around £34 off-peak up to £62 peak (roughly £8.50 to £15.50 per player at four players per court), with live rates and 60 or 90 minute slots shown at the booking step.

The standard Playtomic cancellation window applies, so refunds are typically available up to 24 hours before the booking. The reception team can be reached on 0151 424 8613 or by email at padel@velocitygb.com for group bookings, private hire and corporate enquiries.

Doors open at 06:00 Monday to Friday and 07:00 at weekends, with last slots running through to midnight every day. Free parking is included on site, with private overflow parking around the building for busy social nights and tournaments.

Padel programme and social

The club runs leagues, in-house tournaments, Saturday padel socials and regular mix-in nights for players who want a guaranteed game without organising four people in advance. A WhatsApp community group is used for last-minute court shares, partner requests and event announcements.

New players can book a free intro to padel session through the website, which covers the basic rules, scoring and a short on-court hit with a coach. Racket hire is available at reception for anyone who has not bought their own kit yet, and the pro shop area stocks balls and a small selection of grips and overgrips.

Between matches, the fully licensed bar and snack bar serve hot drinks, soft drinks, beer and quick food, with seating that looks straight onto the courts. The cafe and bar area doubles as the watch zone for tournament finals and league nights.

Best for

Velocity Padel Widnes is a strong fit for newcomers wanting a free intro, regular club players in north Cheshire and Merseyside chasing weekly league play, and groups looking for late evening private hires under one roof with food and drink on site. The 06:00 opening also suits early-shift players who want a game before work.

It is less suited to players hunting for outdoor courts in summer or anyone wanting a large gym, swimming pool or spa attached to their padel club. For those needs, a multi-sport leisure centre will be a better match.
