The Welsh Padel Centre (Cwmbran)

The Welsh Padel Centre sits at the Woodland Road Sports and Social Centre on Woodland Road in Cwmbran NP44, three padel courts that opened as the first dedicated padel tennis club in Wales.

The independent build pulls regulars from Cwmbran, Newport, Pontypool and the wider South Wales catchment, and predates the larger Padium Cardiff and Pure Padel Swansea builds that came later in the Welsh padel rollout.

The courts

Three padel courts at the Woodland Road Sports and Social Centre site. Floodlit through evening play, with the wider community sports centre providing changing rooms and clubhouse facilities alongside the courts. The covered/canopy build delivers protection through the wet South Wales weather.

Booking and access

Court hire bookable through the Welsh Padel Centre at welshpadel.com. Pay-and-play access alongside Welsh Padel Centre membership rates. Woodland Road location in Cwmbran, putting the venue inside reach of Cwmbran, Newport, Pontypool, Caerphilly and the wider South Wales catchment with on-site parking via the community sports centre.

Closest stations: Cwmbran (rail) and Pontypool & New Inn (rail).

Programme and social

The Woodland Road Sports and Social Centre setting brings community-club hospitality alongside the padel courts. Daily mix-ins, beginner socials and structured group lessons run through the in-house Welsh Padel Centre coaching programme.

The “first padel club in Wales” status makes the venue a heritage anchor for the Welsh padel scene, drawing players entering the sport through the community pathway.

Group bookings, parties and corporate events handled directly through the venue.

Best for

Cwmbran, Newport, Pontypool, Caerphilly and the wider South Wales catchment players who want padel at the country’s first dedicated padel club setting, regulars combining padel with the wider community sports centre offer, and players entering the sport at a non-flagship community pathway. Less suited to those wanting flagship-scale court rosters or premium-spec builds.

Coaching at the Welsh Padel Centre runs through the in-house coaching team, with structured group lessons, beginner intros and 1-on-1 sessions across all skill levels. The three-court roster supports a community-pathway coaching approach, anchoring the wider Welsh padel coaching scene as the country's first dedicated club.
