About Smash Padel Mid Sussex
Smash Padel Mid Sussex is a pay and play padel venue at Whitemans Grn, Haywards Heath RH17 5HX, UK, with 3 outdoor courts under canopy covers. The venue is run in partnership with Haywards Heath Rugby Club, and play needs no membership.
The venue opened in 2025 and suits beginners, juniors and social players who want a covered game in the open air. Court bookings, social events and public matches all run through the Nettla app. For other venues around the town, see our guide to padel courts in Haywards Heath.
The padel courts
Smash Padel Mid Sussex has 3 outdoor courts and no indoor courts. All three are panoramic, and each one sits under its own canopy cover, so a passing shower does not have to end the game. They are still outdoor courts, so dress for the temperature in the colder months.
Two of the courts are set up for doubles and one is a singles court. A singles court is a rarer find at a small venue. It works well for two players who want a game without finding a four, and for coached drills with a single partner.
Panoramic courts use glass walls with minimal framing, which gives anyone watching a clear view and gives players a consistent bounce off the glass. That makes them a good place to learn the wall play that sets padel apart from tennis.
Racket hire costs £3 per hour, and rackets are also for sale on site. That means you can turn up for a first game without any kit, then buy your own once you have found a racket that suits your game.
Padel booking and access
Courts at Smash Padel Mid Sussex are booked through the Nettla app, which runs on both main smartphone platforms. There is no web booking page, so download the app before your first visit. Court prices are shown in the app when you choose a slot.
The free Smash Community Membership gives students, pensioners and blue light workers 20% off off-peak court fees. Blue light card holders and students also qualify for discounts. There is no paid membership to buy before you play: it is simply pay and play.
The venue sits at Whitemans Green, sharing the rugby club’s sports fields. The host club has built an enlarged car park alongside the fields, so there is parking on site for players arriving by car.
For questions before you book, the Mid Sussex team can be reached by email at mid-sussex@smashpadel.co or by phone on +44 7542 608563. Venue details are also on the Smash Padel Mid Sussex website, and the Smash Padel group posts on Instagram.
Padel programme and social
Coaching is run by an in-house team led by Head Coach Michelle Collins, an LTA Padel Instructor Level 2 with 40 years’ coaching behind her. Coach Mat Worden, a former Sussex County Champion, works alongside her.
Private coaching and group lessons are both on offer, along with ‘You, Three and Me’ sessions where your coach plays in with you. That format lets a coach correct positioning and shot choice during real rallies rather than from the side of the court.
New players start with a free intro session, then move on to Padel Xpress, a structured programme for beginners. It gives a clear route from a first hit to confident match play.
Juniors have a fun, structured juniors programme that keeps kids coming back week after week, with junior coaching alongside it. It is a good way for children to pick up the game with players of a similar level.
On the social side, regular social events and public matches are posted in the Nettla app, so solo players can join a game without arranging a four themselves. Courts can also be hired for private events, corporate sessions, birthday parties and group occasions through the Mid Sussex team.
After a game, the café/bar on site is open from 8am to 10pm for a coffee or a drink. The rugby club’s new clubhouse at Whitemans Green is open seven days a week from 8am until late, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with big TV screens for watching sport.
