Skipton Tennis & Padel Centre

Skipton Tennis & Padel Centre sits on Engine Shed Lane in Skipton BD23 1UP, a short walk from the canal basin and five minutes from the A65 and A59 trunk routes. Visit the Skipton Tennis & Padel Centre website for membership and court hire.

The club is one of North Yorkshire’s earliest multi-sport tennis and padel sites, combining five LTA-registered tennis courts with three padel courts inside a single, friendly hub at the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Skipton itself is the historic market town drawing players from Keighley, Ilkley, Settle and the wider Craven district. The padel courts have quickly become a fixture of the local racket scene, with members travelling in from Bradford and East Lancashire.

The padel courts

The site has three padel courts: one fully outdoor court branded The OG (Padel Court 1) and two canopied courts (Padel Courts 2 and 3) that play under a permanent roof with open sides. All three use Crystal glass-backed walls.

Floodlighting on the canopied courts supports late-evening play, with natural light through the open frame during the day. Court dimensions follow the standard 20 by 10 metre doubles spec, and the canopied design suits the Pennine weather, keeping games on when rain rolls across the Dales.

Rackets, balls and footwear are available at no extra cost from the clubhouse, which keeps the barrier to a first padel session as low as possible for visitors and new members alike.

Booking and access

Booking padel at Skipton runs through Playtomic. The outdoor OG court is £16 per court (£4 per player) for members and £26 per court (£6.50 per player) for non-members, with costs split across four players. Book a court on Playtomic.

The canopied courts are £26 per court (£6.50 per player) for members and £36 per court (£9 per player) for non-members. Standard slots run 90 minutes, and rackets and balls are included in the hire price for both court types.

Members can reserve up to 21 days in advance and non-members up to seven days. Cancellation is a full refund on the outdoor OG court if weather stops play, and 24 hours’ notice on the canopied courts. Phone 07875 643780 or email info@skiptontennis.com to book directly.

Opening hours run 07:00 to 22:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 to 21:00 Saturday and Sunday. The centre has free on-site parking, EV charging points, a snack bar, WiFi and changing facilities. Pay-and-play access means you do not need a membership to book a court.

Programme and social

The padel programme covers adult beginner courses, improver sessions, junior padel and private lessons. Mix-in sessions and internal competitions run throughout the year, and the club leans on its broader tennis membership base to keep social play busy across both sports.

The on-site pro shop carries rackets, footwear and apparel, with a re-stringing service for tennis members. Detailed coaching tiers, intensives and holiday camps are listed on the coaching tab on this page.

The wider centre runs LTA-affiliated tennis coaching and junior holiday camps during school breaks, making Skipton Tennis & Padel Centre a natural choice for Craven-district families wanting one welcoming venue across multiple racket sports under a single roof and single membership.

Best for

Skipton Tennis & Padel Centre suits Craven-district players who want pay-and-play padel without driving to Leeds or Bradford, plus families combining tennis and padel under one membership at a single site.

Yorkshire Dales visitors staying in Skipton, Grassington or Bolton Abbey can drop in for a session with hire kit included. It is less suited to players chasing a large indoor competition circuit, since the site is community-scaled rather than a dedicated padel megacentre.
