Hamptworth Padel and Pickleball Club

Hamptworth Padel and Pickleball Club opened in September 2025 on the grounds of Hamptworth Golf and Country Club, at Hamptworth Road, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP5 2DU. The site sits on the northern edge of the New Forest National Park, around 12 miles east of Salisbury and 15 miles north of Southampton.

The club pairs two outdoor padel courts with five competition-grade pickleball courts and shares the existing golf clubhouse, restaurant, changing rooms and free parking. Bookings run through the Playtomic platform, with equipment hire available from the clubhouse between 08:00 and 18:00 daily.

The padel courts

The club runs two outdoor double padel courts, built to the standard 20m by 10m dimensions with full perimeter glass and mesh. Floodlights cover both courts for evening play until 21:00 throughout the year.

Surfaces are artificial turf with sand infill, which is the format Playtomic confirms at the booking step for this venue. Both courts sit alongside the five pickleball courts, so groups can rotate between the two sports across a single visit if they wish.

Because the courts are outdoor, sessions are weather-dependent. The New Forest microclimate around Hamptworth tends to be drier than the south coast, and the club asks players to check the live booking page on rainy mornings before driving over to the venue.

Booking and access padel

All bookings are handled through Playtomic, either via the app or the desktop booking page. Padel court hire is priced at £30 per hour, which works out at £7.50 per player for a standard four-ball doubles match.

Pickleball courts are £12 per hour or £3 per head, in case mixed groups want to switch sports. Live rates and slot availability show at the booking step on Playtomic, and the club operates a pay-and-play model with no membership required to play padel.

Hamptworth Road runs between Landford and Redlynch, roughly 12 miles east of Salisbury and 15 miles north of Southampton. The club shares the golf course car park, which is free for players, and the M27 (junction 1, Cadnam) is the most direct route from Bournemouth or Portsmouth.

There is no rail station within walking distance of the club. Salisbury and Southampton Parkway are the nearest options, with a taxi or pre-booked car covering the final leg of the journey across the New Forest.

Programme and social padel

The venue runs private one-to-one and small-group padel lessons alongside beginner clinics designed for players trying padel for the first time. Sessions are bookable directly through the Playtomic Academy tab.

Social padel mixers use a rotating opponent format, and a members WhatsApp group helps regulars arrange matches, share fixture changes and post about coaching and social events at the club throughout the week.

Rackets and balls are available to hire from the clubhouse pro shop between 08:00 and 18:00, so visiting players can turn up empty-handed. The same clubhouse runs the New Forest restaurant and bar, with food service through the day and a terrace overlooking the practice green.

Best for padel at Hamptworth

Hamptworth Padel and Pickleball Club suits players in south Wiltshire, the New Forest and the northern fringe of Hampshire who want a quiet, pay-and-play outdoor venue away from the busier urban clubs in Southampton, Bournemouth and Salisbury city centre.

The hybrid padel and pickleball setup, combined with a full golf clubhouse and restaurant, also makes it a strong fit for mixed groups where not everyone plays the same sport. Beginners benefit from the open-court layout and the on-site coaching pathway, while regular doubles pairs get a quieter alternative to peak-hour slots in larger cities.
