Cheap Padel Rackets 2026, Decathlon, Sports Direct, Amazon and the Best Budget Buys

Cheap Padel Rackets 2026, Decathlon, Sports Direct, Amazon and the Best Budget Buys
The short answer

The best cheap padel racket for most people is the adidas Drive 3.4, which costs £51.99 at Padel Market (about $69 or €61). Decathlon’s Kuikma PR Open is the cheapest decent racket in a UK high street shop at £24.99, and Sports Direct’s Slazenger Smash is £34.99. Aldi and Lidl sell padel rackets for under £15, but only as occasional special buys. If you play every week, spend £40 to £65 on a fibreglass racket from a padel brand, because it will last longer and feel better than a supermarket racket. Last updated: October 2026.

Links to retailers on this page are affiliate links. If you buy through them, Padeli may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never affects which products we recommend or how.

How much should a cheap padel racket cost

Padel rackets run from about £12 in a supermarket to well over £300 for the rackets the pros use. If you are new to the game, or you play once a week with friends, the expensive end is wasted money. Those rackets are stiff, carbon-faced and built for players who hit the ball hard and often.

Here is roughly what your money gets you.

  • Under £30. Supermarket rackets from Aldi and Lidl, and Decathlon’s entry-level Kuikma PR Open. Fine for a first go, a holiday or a beach court.
  • £35 to £65. The sweet spot. Fibreglass rackets from adidas, Head, Wilson, Babolat and NOX, usually last season’s model or a beginner range. They feel softer, last longer and hold their value better.
  • £70 to £120. Good rackets for improving players, often with some carbon in the frame. Not really cheap any more.

So for most people, the best cheap padel racket is a branded fibreglass one at £40 to £65. If you are a complete beginner, our beginner racket guide goes into shape and weight in more detail.

1. adidas Drive 3.4 2027, best cheap padel racket overall

If a friend asked us for one cheap racket to buy, this would be it. The Drive is a round racket with a low balance, so most of the weight sits near your hand and it is easy to swing. The face is fibreglass over a soft EVA core, which takes the sting out of off-centre hits and gives the ball a bit of help off the face.

The adidas Drive 3.4 is a round, low-balance racket, and that makes it very forgiving.

The 2025 version has sold out, and the 2027 model that replaces it is the same racket under new yellow paint, with the same round shape, weight and fibreglass faces. It sells well under its £86.99 list price.

What you get: Round shape, medium-low balance, 360 to 375g, fibreglass faces, soft EVA core.

Price and where to buy: In October 2026, Padel Market had it for £51.99, down from £86.99, so about $69 or €61.

Who it is for: Beginners and social players who want a proper racket for as little as possible.

2. adidas Match Light 3.4 2025, the lightest

The Match Light costs about £14 less than the Drive and weighs less too, at 345 to 360g. The shape sits between round and diamond, which gives you a little more pop on overheads without making the racket much harder to control.

adidas Match Light 3.4 2025 padel racket
The Match Light is a lighter, slightly more attacking racket for less money than the Drive.

The lighter weight makes a real difference over a long session, especially if you have a sore elbow or shoulder, or you are buying for a teenager.

What you get: Hybrid shape between round and diamond, 345 to 360g, fibreglass faces, soft EVA core.

Price and where to buy: £38.21 at Padel Nuestro, down from £63.71, so about $50 or €45.

Who it is for: Lighter players, younger players and anyone who finds a standard racket tiring.

3. Wilson Optix V1, best for control

The Optix V1 is the racket we put top of our beginner guide, and it is cheap enough to belong here too. It is round with a big face, so the sweet spot is large, and at 370g it feels solid and stable when the ball comes at you hard.

Wilson Optix V1 Black padel racket
The Wilson Optix V1 has a large round face and a solid feel.

It will not win you points with power, but it will help you get the ball back over the net, which is what matters most in your first year.

What you get: Round shape, 370g, fibreglass, soft foam core.

Price and where to buy: £50.96 at Padel Nuestro, down from £84.96, so about $67 or €60.

Who it is for: New players who want control and a racket that feels steady in defence.

4. Head Evo Speed 2025, best for tennis players

The Evo Speed is a teardrop racket, so the sweet spot sits a little higher than on a round one. That suits people coming from tennis or squash, who are used to hitting through the ball and want a bit more power on their volleys and smashes.

Head Evo Speed 2025 padel racket
The Head Evo Speed is a light teardrop racket for players who like a bit more pace.

At 350g with a low balance it is quick at the net, and the fibreglass face keeps it comfortable. Head adds a material called Innegra to the frame to soak up vibration.

What you get: Teardrop shape, 350g, low balance, fibreglass faces, Innegra in the frame.

Price and where to buy: £55.21 at Padel Nuestro, down from £84.96, so about $73 or €65. Sports Direct sells it for £59.99, and it is also on Amazon.

Who it is for: Tennis and squash players, and beginners who want a little more power.

5. Babolat Air Crest 2026, the biggest saving

This is the bargain on the list. The Air Crest is a 2026 racket with a list price of £152.95, and it is on sale for £59.46. You rarely see this year’s model discounted that hard.

Babolat Air Crest 2026 padel racket
The Babolat Air Crest 2026 is a light teardrop racket with an oversized head.

It is an oversized teardrop, so the face is bigger than usual and forgives mistimed shots. At 345g with a medium balance it is light at the net, and the fibreglass faces with a soft EVA core make it comfortable to play with for hours.

What you get: Oversized teardrop shape, 345g, medium balance, fibreglass faces, soft EVA core.

Price and where to buy: £59.46 at Padel Nuestro, down from £152.95, so about $78 or €70.

Who it is for: Beginners and improving players who want a current racket at a last-season price.

6. NOX X-One Silhouette 2026, best step up

If you can stretch to £60, this is the one that will last you longest. The X-One Silhouette has an oversized round head, a carbon frame and 3K fibreglass faces over NOX’s HR3 core. It still plays like a beginner’s racket, but it feels a step more solid than the cheaper fibreglass rackets. NOX designed it with women players in mind, but at 350 to 365g it suits anyone who wants a light, forgiving racket.

The NOX X-One Silhouette pairs a carbon frame with soft fibreglass faces.

Decathlon sells the X-One Silhouette too, at £79.99 with a carry bag, so it pays to compare before you buy.

What you get: Oversized round shape, 350 to 365g, carbon frame, 3K fibreglass faces, HR3 EVA core.

Price and where to buy: £60.31 at Padel Nuestro, down from £72.21, so about $80 or €71. It is £82.99 at Padel Market.

Who it is for: Players who already know they will keep playing and want one racket for the next couple of years.

Are Decathlon padel rackets any good

Yes, for the money. Decathlon’s own brand is Kuikma, and its cheapest adult racket, the PR Open, is £24.99. It is round, light at around 320g and made from glass fibre with a soft EVA core. Decathlon’s UK site shows it at 4.7 out of 5 from 625 reviews, which is a lot of happy beginners.

Above that come the PR Comfort Soft at £34.99 and the PR Comfort at £44.99. The PR Comfort is round, around 350g, with fibreglass faces and a two-layer glass fibre frame, and it has 4.5 out of 5 from 226 reviews on Decathlon’s Irish site.

Our view is that the PR Open is a sensible racket for your first few sessions, but it is very light and quite basic. If you are playing every week, the extra £27 for an adidas Drive gets you a heavier, more solid racket from a padel brand.

Decathlon also sells branded rackets. Some are good prices, such as the Bullpadel Indiga PWR 26 at £54.99. Others, like the NOX X-One Silhouette at £79.99, are cheaper elsewhere.

Sports Direct padel rackets

Sports Direct’s cheapest rackets are its own Slazenger range. The Slazenger Smash is £34.99, the Volley £49.99, the Razor £69.99 and the Victory £99.99. The Smash has a glass fibre frame and a soft EVA core, which is the right recipe for a beginner’s racket.

Ignore the crossed-out prices. The Smash shows an RRP of £69.99 next to its £34.99 price, but that discount is permanent, and the racket is not a £70 racket.

Sports Direct stocks the big brands too. The Head Evo Speed is £59.99 there against £55.21 at Padel Nuestro, and the Head Vibe is £69.99 there while the 2025 version is £59.46 at Padel Nuestro.

Aldi and Lidl padel rackets

Both supermarkets sell padel rackets, but only now and then as special buys. Lidl’s are under its Crivit sports brand. Recent deals have been around £12.49 at Lidl and £14.99 at Aldi, and once they sell out they are gone until the next promotion.

At that price they are fine for a beach holiday, a garden court or a child who wants to try. But they are made to a price, and if you start playing every week you will want something better within a few months. Spending £38 on a Match Light or £52 on a Drive once is cheaper than buying a supermarket racket and then replacing it.

Buying a cheap padel racket on Amazon

Amazon is handy if you want a racket by the weekend. The big brands are all there, including the Head Evo Speed and the Head Vibe. Prices move around a lot, so compare with the figures above before you buy.

Dunlop makes the Lumina as an Amazon exclusive. It has a graphite frame, fibreglass faces and a medium EVA core, weighs about 365g, and has a hybrid shape. German review site Padelvergleich scored it 80 per cent and liked its large sweet spot.

Be wary of the unbranded rackets that fill the search results with names you have never heard of and words like full carbon or 18K carbon in the title. Carbon makes a racket stiffer and more powerful, which is the opposite of what a beginner needs, and with an unknown brand there is no way to tell what is really inside. Stick to brands you know.

Other shops that sell cheap padel rackets

  • Argos sells some of Decathlon’s rackets, such as the Padel Racket React Soft at £70, plus a few kids’ rackets.
  • TK Maxx sometimes has branded rackets from NOX and others at a discount. Stock changes from week to week, so it is worth a look but you cannot plan on it.
  • JD Sports has a padel section, but it is shoes and clothing rather than rackets.
  • eBay and Vinted are full of second-hand rackets, often barely used. Check the photos for cracks in the frame and chips around the edge before you buy.

What to look for in a cheap padel racket

A round shape

Round rackets have the sweet spot low and in the middle of the face, which makes them the most forgiving. Teardrop rackets add a little power, and diamond rackets are for advanced players. Avoid diamonds at the cheap end.

Fibreglass, not carbon

A fibreglass face is softer and gives the ball more help, so you do not have to swing as hard. It is also kinder on your arm. Carbon is stiffer and suits players with a fast, well-timed swing.

A weight of 345g to 370g

Most adults are happy in this range. Go to the lighter end if you have had elbow or shoulder trouble, and the heavier end if you want more stability.

Racket packs

Packs that include a racket, a bag and a grip can be good value for a new player. The Bullpadel Game CTR pack is £74.95 at Padel Nuestro, down from £161, and comes with a racket bag and an overgrip. Our padel bags guide has more on bags if you want one on its own.

When to buy

Rackets get cheaper when the new season’s version arrives, and again around Black Friday at the end of November. If you are buying a racket as a present, our padel gift guide has ideas at every budget.
