About Padel Social House

Padel Social House is an indoor padel club at The Kestrel Centre, 45 Salthouse Rd, Northampton NN4 7EX, with doubles court hire on Playtomic from £40 off-peak to £50 peak per hour. It has 12 indoor Super Panoramic courts, open 7am to 11pm daily.

Members and pay-as-you-play visitors are both welcome, and every court is booked on Playtomic. Off the court there is a Players Lounge with big screens showing Sky Sports and TNT Sports, the Matcha Social Cafe & Restaurant, a club shop, and changing rooms with showers, saunas and a recovery ice bath.

The padel courts

All 12 courts at Padel Social House are indoor Super Panoramic courts, so a booking goes ahead whatever the weather is doing outside. Eleven are doubles courts for the usual game of four, and one is a singles court. One of the doubles courts is set up as the club’s competition court.

The singles court is worth knowing about. It gives two players a full game without needing a four, and it is priced separately from the doubles courts, which makes it a cheaper way to practise footwork, volleys and play off the glass between doubles sessions.

A Technogym warm-up zone sits next to the courts, so players can loosen up before the first serve. Rental rackets, balls and accessories are available at the club, and the club shop stocks Adidas, Nox, Oxdog and Babolat, so a first-time player can arrive without kit and a regular can replace a worn racket on the day.

Booking and access

Courts at Padel Social House are booked on Playtomic, in the app or on the club’s Playtomic page, by members and pay-as-you-play visitors alike. Prices are per court, so the cost is shared between everyone on it, and there are off-peak, peak, weekend and weekend evening rates.

Padel programme and social

Coaching at Padel Social House is led by full-time Head Coach Tom Craig, in a team of four coaches, three male and one female, and lessons are booked through Playtomic. There are also Ladies Coaching and Specialist Sessions on Master the Glass, Overheads, Volleys, and Serve & Return, listed on the club’s website.

New players can start with the weekly Intro to Padel sessions. The weekly social calendar then runs Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Americanos, a Women’s Social, an Over 60’s Social, a Coffee Club, Playtomic Leveller sessions and a Members Club Night, so there is a game at most levels through the week.

Padel Social House also runs tournaments, which are published and entered on the club’s Playtomic page in the same way as a court booking. The club has also been venue partner for the GIVE Northants charity padel tournament, and the competition court gives events a showpiece court.

For younger players there is a Junior & Teenage Club and an After School Club, so juniors have their own sessions rather than joining adult games. The club also runs a WhatsApp community, which is a useful way to find a fourth player or a game at short notice.

Off court, the Matcha Social Cafe & Restaurant serves hot and cold food and drinks, including fresh protein-based food and freshly ground coffee. The Players Lounge shows live sport on big screens, there is a family zone, and the club has a private function room with a projector screen and break-out space.

Best for

Padel Social House suits players in Northampton who want an indoor court any day of the week, from early morning to late evening, without checking the forecast first. With 12 courts on one site, it is also a good choice for groups booking several courts at once.

It works well for beginners: rental rackets, weekly Intro to Padel sessions and the Beginner Americanos give a clear path from a first hit to regular games. The beginner’s guide to padel in the UK covers the rules and scoring before a first visit.

For families there is a junior club, an after school club and a family zone, while competitive players have the competition court, Advanced Americanos, tournaments and specialist coaching. Changing rooms with showers, saunas and a recovery ice bath make it easy to go straight from a session to work or dinner.
