Padel California - Oceanside is California’s first padel-dedicated club, set at 222 S Coast Hwy, Oceanside, CA 92054. The site is a short walk from Oceanside Pier and the downtown waterfront, just off I-5 at the Mission Avenue and Pier View Way exits in north San Diego County.

The venue occupies a 9,500 sq ft lot previously used as a car dealership, now reborn as a two-court padel facility on the coastal strip. It is the flagship for the Padel California brand, with a second site of five courts and a clubhouse planned for Whittier in greater Los Angeles - see the venue’s website for updates.

The club sits in a busy coastal pocket near restaurants, bars and the beach, making it easy to build a session into a wider day out. It emphasizes inclusivity, with first-timers, families and competitive doubles teams sharing the same two-court footprint across morning, lunchtime and evening blocks.

The padel courts

The site has two outdoor doubles courts, labelled North Court and South Court on the Playtomic booking page. Both are standard double courts enclosed by 10-foot plexiglass walls with an additional 6 feet of netting above, giving 16 feet of total containment.

The glass walls serve a dual purpose. They are part of the playing surface for rebound shots and they help block coastal sound and stray balls from spilling onto Coast Highway. The courts are open to the sky rather than under a permanent roof, which suits Oceanside’s mild year-round climate.

Lighting is fitted for evening play, with the booking platform showing sessions running until 10:30 PM on most weekdays. Equipment rental is on-site, so visitors travelling without a racket can borrow gear at the desk.

Booking and access

Court bookings run through Playtomic - reserve a slot via the club’s Playtomic page. Live court rates are shown at the booking step and vary by time of day, with peak evening and weekend slots filling first. Sessions are typically offered in 60 and 90 minute blocks.

Opening hours are Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM, Thursday from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM. Members get priority access and discounted court rates.

Padel programme and social

Padel California runs monthly member-only tournaments split across beginner, intermediate and advanced brackets, plus open social events and leagues that mix in non-members. Women’s clinics run on Thursdays and Fridays, and the club hosts after-school sessions and dedicated kids’ lessons for ages 5 to 11.

Padel California suits players based in north coastal San Diego County who want a dedicated padel club rather than a multi-sport facility with shared courts. The two-court site rewards regular doubles groups, member leagues and visitors looking to pair a session with downtown Oceanside or the pier.

It is less suited to large drop-in crowds at peak times - with only two courts, weekend evenings book out well in advance, so plan ahead via Playtomic. Players seeking indoor or covered courts will need to look at other San Diego venues, but for outdoor coastal padel it remains a benchmark.
